Good morning, as seen yesterday I was not at all happy with the lack of transparency seen in your billing practices. I with my two companies could never do what you did to me and expect to keep my customers.
When I walked in the door yesterday I asked what is the fee for teeth cleaning. I was told $134 each. I was good with that.
My prior dentist past away....in search of a new dentist I went to the American Dental Association website. On the front page of that web site was a warning to consumers to beware of a practice where the hygienist was now used as a salesperson to upsell services that were maybe not necessary to push charges up. The problem they stated was that because of how hygienists were being compensated, that is a commission on these upsells that in their study over 70 percent of the upsells recommendations were not necessary.
I came to Dr Clark late last year bc he was a friend of mine for over 20 years. I could trust him and his staff for my oral health.
My life experience, and I spoke to numerous others yesterday on this who had the same experiences, often when you schedule an appointment for a teeth cleaning the dentist will step in and say hello.... often looking at my or the patients teeth briefly. Never in my life have I seen an additional charge for this brief encounter.
I also was offered and recommended numerous other treatments while having my teeth cleaned.
The entire process was uncomfortable, car sales type behavior and shocking to see that you added $140 to my bill for the dentist to briefly step in. Talk about LACK OF BILLING TRANSPARENCY! At its worst!
Lastly.... when I tried to discuss this with your front counter girl.... she did not listen, rather talked over me to tell me what I was about to say was wrong. To continue the conversation I would of had to raise my voice to be heard. So I said bill me knowing I’m never coming back.
In the bigger picture you lose my and my family's lifetime of business. So for $140 you threw away probably 10 to 30 thousand in revenue over the next 20 years.
Trust that I will post this as a warning to others online and will not recommend you to any of my laguna beach friends. Actually I will be vocal in my disappointment of your lack of transparency and processes.
